Align Impact Announces Key Additions to Investments Team to Meet Increasing Demand for More Diversified Impact Investment Opportunities
Los Angeles, CA —August 25, 2020—Align Impact, LLC, a financial advisory firm focused exclusively on the impact marketplace, (“Align”) announced today that it has expanded its Investment Research team with three new hires including Brandon Boros, Associate Director, Direct Investments, Tamar Honig, Private Funds Analyst and Sophie Whelchel, Direct Investment Analyst. The Investment Research team is led by Hummayun Javed, Director of Investments. Align’s growing investments team deepens the firm’s institutional investment capabilities to meet the increasing demand for direct impact investments and more customized diversified portfolios among high net worth investors, family offices, foundations and institutions.

Both Mr. Boros and Ms. Whelchel are responsible for expanding Align’s direct investment offerings to meet clients’ growing demand. Their roles include sourcing diverse direct investment opportunities in various impact sectors, including climate change mitigation, social justice, food and agriculture to name a few. Additionally, as specialists in direct investments, they are responsible for cultivating and maintaining strategic relationships with investor networks, including fund managers for co-investment opportunities, entrepreneurs, advisors, and foundations.
As an Analyst of Private Investments of funds, Ms. Honig works within Align’s Investment Research team to support manager selection efforts in the private markets including venture capital, private equity, real estate assets, and private debt. She sources opportunities for clients and investment mandates currently being served by the firm and conducts primary and secondary research on impact investment funds.

Mr. Boros joins Align Impact from BMO Capital Markets where he was an Associate in the Mergers & Acquisition group. Mr. Boros also served as a consultant for Impact Engine, a venture capital and private equity investment firm focused on technology companies that generate positive outcomes in education, health, economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability. Earlier in his career, he was an Investment Associate at Northern Trust and a Trader at Canal Street Trading, LLC. Mr. Boros holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Previously, Ms. Whelchel was a Co-Investment Analyst at Hamilton Lane, a private market investment firm. In her role she participated in the rotational Analyst Development Program, gaining investment experience on the co-investment and fund-investment teams. Ms. Whelchel also served as an Impact Investing Program Development Intern at Fidelity Charitable, where she worked on strategies to increase donor involvement with impact investing, facilitating the transition of philanthropic dollars. She holds a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Prior to joining Align, Ms. Honig was a Fellow at Kiva Microfunds in Mexico City. Her duties included developing a network of Latin American investors and growth-stage social enterprises to forge partnerships and source new impact investments. She also led due diligence, including financial statement analysis and impact underwriting for 18 businesses in eight countries applying for direct working capital loans. Previously Ms. Honig was a Venture Coordinator at Ashoka where she reviewed hundreds of applications and led due diligence on select candidates from Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean to the Ashoka Fellowship. Ms. Honig holds a BA from the University of Chicago.
